Issue #41 4 Essential Ingredients to Write a Blog People Want to Read

I'm so freak-n blessed that I love writing.

Here's the think about your blog sista....it should work for YOU, bring in traffic and new eyeballs to your website and into your sales funnel. If your old posts are just taking up space, then it’s time to repurpose that content to attract readers and prospects.

I absolutely love and look forward to Mondays Mama! It's like a party day for me, because this is my planning day. I dedicate 30 minutes to creating my blog plan and writing one blog article that will motivate, inspire and empower my ladies to kickass past fear (Uh Yea, It Lights Me UP 🤩!) My goal is to have enough stored content and articles ready to rock on scheduled release -so I don't have to worry.

But, there are pop up posts that I must write to address my members #1 biz fear that they share with me via the Face the Fear Together Quiz or inside my Impossible to Possible Women membership club or to address real-world situations i.e. increased racism during the pandemic.

But, I know a lot of female entrepreneurs are not authors and are not in love with writing content as much as I am (which includes writing blog content.) I also know creating content for your blog can feel overwhelming, especially if you don’t have a plan.

Can I Guess What You're Thinking?

  • What do I write about,
  • What if no one reads it,
  • What if no one clicks my links,
  • What if I get negative reviews?

And how do I know this? Because every blogger has those thoughts at one time or another. You're not alone sista!

But It Doesn't Have to Feel So Stressful.

Let's Face the Fear Together and identify WHY you're afraid of blogging. This biz obstacle is a common combination of fear based around mindset and visibility. Do this sista. Take a few moments to journal and really think about WHY you have this fear. More times than not, it's because of a lack of preparation, knowledge, expertise, scarcity mindset or low self-confidence.

Can I Help a Sista Out?

Use my Face the Fear Together Quiz to gain a better understanding of these fears and how to kickass past them.

I can tell you this sista, when you plan your content for your blog, strategically, it will feel less stressful. Blogging doesn’t have to feel like “too much” on your to-do list.

Also, once you set the intention for your blog and begin to follow a working plan, you’ll be able to monetize your blog content in no time at all.

Don't Believe Me?

The simple fact that you're reading this blog right now shows that what i'm talking about works! I literally took a year off from blogging and hopped back into it like it was nothing. And it wasn't because I'm a published author (one a best seller by the way) but, it's because I took the time to do these 4 essential ingredients that I highly recommend you try as well

#1 Map Out Your Blogging Plan

Define your intentions for your blog. Get clear with the purpose of why you're sharing the content. List the categories of content for your blog. Let's make it easy for your readers to find what they want and need. Identify your audience. I've coaching this a thousands times; you have an ideal audience and then you have an ideal reader when it comes to blogs. Think of your audience like a bunch of Boss Babes on vacay in Turks and Caicos waiting to taste different types of margaritas...you want them to taste the one they are most interested in. Make sense? Then I want you to create defined goals you’d like to achieve. It doesn't make sense doing all of that writing for notta. Ask yourself, what are the results I want to achieve as a result of writing the blog.

#2 Refresh Your Blog

Assess where you are right now today with your audience. Take a look at prior blog posts and see what kind of traction they had i.e. comments, views, etc. Next, reintroduce your blog to new readers- if Gwen Stephanie can re-introduce herself 20+ years after leaving her band, "No Doubt" ...Why Can't You?! Promote that past post to get some new traffic flowing; especially if it was getting some traction.

#3 Rewrite Your Blog Posts

Sometimes you'll have to re-write a blog for various reasons; which is not a big deal. But, listen carefully to this part...DO NOT rewrite the URL because you may loose audience members that followed that past URL. Having a few broken links is expected in our biz, but don't have a ton.

When you get to ready to re-purpose the content, make sure to update any stats, add any new mentions, links, images, etc....anything that will help add a fresh look. Most important, don't forget to update your call to action links. If you blog had comments, make to sure to add an editorial comment to address the content update (short and sweet is the way to go).

#4 Clarify Your Call to Action (CTA)

When you update your CTA, try to use more of your clients language focused on their results. And make sure you still have the offer available that goes with the link. Side note, something I do all the time and as well as most coaches...if you're offer isn't ready for release...still create a waitlist process to collect the lead. Finally, verify that all the offer links are good to go such as the freebies, group access, etc.

It All Starts with a Plan!

Use those steps sista and you’ll experience incredible results in your business. You’ll grow your audience tenfold, and position your business to lure in clients that you’re meant to serve.

Here's what I know to be true sista, when you blog with the right intention you’ll be able to:

  • Rise in your industry as the go-to expert in your field
  • Capitalize on your reputation and brand
  • Attract your ideal clients using content with purpose
  • Drive traffic and potential clients to your website
  • Sell your coach offerings with ease (to the people who need it the most!)
